about

hey, it’s me, your friend Jordan

Jordan Elizabeth Henry (she/her) is an Autistic playwright and theatre-lover whose work explores neurodivergence, mental illness, & trauma.

For about 15 years, I wrote plays specifically about trauma and mental illness. We write what we know, in small ways and grand ones. I love the plays I wrote during my 20s and early 30s. They are reminders of the courage it took me to create something out of suffering. Each play represents a moment in time on the path to my healing. They were worthy endeavors, I think.

But lately, I want to write neurodivergent characters in the midst of JOY, DELIGHT, SURPRISE, EXCITEMENT, SUCCESS, & ROMANCE — not just trauma and its after effects. Admittedly, I’ve spent a lot of my time writing in the latter lane. But gosh, what can I say? I just want to see happy Autistic people on stage, making out, graduating from college, or finding out they’re pregnant. I want to create what I want to see more of in life, I guess.

I’m passionate about accessibility for theatre-makers and -lovers who cannot access live theatre due to chronic illness and other disabilities. I want to see virtual theatre grow in scale and discover more of what is possible in a virtual space.
